À propos de l'événement
The Ukrainian Library in Nantes "CHO" and ProEnglish Theatre of Ukraine invite you to an online screening of The Book of Sirens, a powerful monodrama performed by one of Ukraine’s most acclaimed theatre groups.
About the Play:Set in the small German town of Molching during World War II, The Book of Sirens tells the story of Liesel Meminger, a young girl who learns to read in a bomb shelter amidst constant air raids. Originally staged in a Kyiv theatre shelter in March 2022, this award-winning production draws parallels between historical and modern-day resilience, weaving a narrative of hope and survival.
The play is based on Markus Zusak’s The Book Thief and includes elements from Hector Abad Faciolince’s The Oblivion We Shall Be. The performance is enriched by piano music, WWII radio announcements, Soviet wartime songs, and the haunting sound of sirens, creating an unforgettable theatrical experience.
